On the way to Whittier. The "train coming around the bend" seems to be a wellworn favorite. I saw several photographers attempting to take this very shot everytime the train got to a curve.
The train passes via Portage Glacier. The dead trees are the result of an earthquake that devastated Portage not so long ago.
At Whittier, we take a cruise to the glaciers. On our way...
The first stop is a mountain-waterfall. The ship goes quite close to this one, you can practically touch it.
One of the many glaciers comes into view.
But not before we spot these seals on an iceberg.
The seals are supposed to be skittish, so we're very quiet as the ship sails by them.
They seem very curious & playful.
Ship approaches the second glacier.
You can get lost in the countless blue layers in the glacier, its very captivating.
