I live, I read, I climb, I hike, I travel, I photo, I.....Here in these galleries are some of my amateur attempts at painting with light and shadows.I work at trying to kill some cancer cells. Photography helps me to see a better world.
"Unlike any other visual image, a photograph is not a rendering, an imitation or an interpretation of its subject, but actually a trace of it. No painting or drawing, however naturalist, belongs to its subject in the way that a photograph does". John Berger
"One final paragraph of advice: do not burn yourselves out. Be as I am — a reluctant enthusiast... a part-time crusader, a half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it’s still here. So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, the lovely, mysterious, and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to the body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much; I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those desk-bound men and women with their hearts in a safe deposit box, and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this; You will outlive the bastards." Edward Abbey

Read MoreSeptember 6, 2010 - At the distinctively red Marquette Harbor Lighthouse, we climbed a long red set of stairs and walked down a long narrow red boardwalk type structure to the end of nowhere, and V played around with the rails, until a burly guy pops open a door and asks V, "Who are you ? Are you with with the Coast Guard ?". V says she's just visiting. The chap informs her that she's on federal property that belongs to the United States Coast Guard. Absolutely no public access!!! "You better get out of here before you are arrested", he says!
So we run down the stairs and drive away as fast as we can. So that's how we manage to make the 6pm cruise in Munising, just in the nick of time. The cruise is about to start when V rushes in waving two large bills, yelling "4 tickets pls!". They place quick phone calls to the ship so it doesn't leave the harbor just yet. An electric golf cart is dispatched from the ship & it rushes through the harbor lanes headed towards us. It stops for barely a sec & we hop in. We are then wisked off to the ship at the other end of the harbor as fast as we can. Pics from the Pictured Rocks cruise on schedule tomorrow! Adios, UP! A 7 hour drive back to Rockford begins...
