I live, I read, I climb, I hike, I travel, I photo, I.....Here in these galleries are some of my amateur attempts at painting with light and shadows.I work at trying to kill some cancer cells. Photography helps me to see a better world.
"Unlike any other visual image, a photograph is not a rendering, an imitation or an interpretation of its subject, but actually a trace of it. No painting or drawing, however naturalist, belongs to its subject in the way that a photograph does". John Berger
"One final paragraph of advice: do not burn yourselves out. Be as I am — a reluctant enthusiast... a part-time crusader, a half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it’s still here. So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, the lovely, mysterious, and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to the body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much; I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those desk-bound men and women with their hearts in a safe deposit box, and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this; You will outlive the bastards." Edward Abbey

on November 20, 2006Actually, I like this border with the photo and it's 3 dimensions. The photo reminds me of a gypsy in fire light too...must be the earring in the corner and your curly hair. Also reminds me of the old movies..before color. This is a nice change of pace from your gorgeous sunsets, Vandana. I like it a lot.

on November 20, 2006Actually I like the border a lot. Makes it really different...like a film before the color days. The candle light is a neat image. Nice change of pace from the gorgeous sunsets. You seem to like oranges and yellows a lot...lol
