Read MoreJune 23, 2009 - Thunderstorm at Sandia peak: We reached the 10,378 feet tall Sandia Peak around 10 am atop the world's longest aerial tramway. Our brief hike atop the mountain was quickly interrupted by thunderclouds and a pouring rain. We took shelter in the observation deck and were informed that the tram to the base would be indefinitely delayed until the thunderstorm cleared away. There were some spells of lightning as well. The observation tower was jampacked with over 150 travellers scheduled to descend the peak once the storm cleared. Finally around 2pm, the storm packed up and we secured a seat in the first tram down to the base. It was quite an adventure, and New Mexico never disappoints!

on June 25, 2009As I am viewing this image it is stormy terrible outside and I can see my poor trees whipping and bending as the air flies through them. Hearing all the sounds outside and looking at this storm makes this shot come alive for me feeling the excitement of the moment you captured this. I bet it was a bit scary to.
Thanks for always sharing what you see through the glass. I love it, gail
