March 14, 2007 - steaming coffee much more difficult to get a nice steam than I expected! I was trying out some more takes for dgrin's Last Photographer standing contest - my present entry is champagne over which I struggled much more :)..well, certainly gets me interesting topics for dailies ! with all this going on, the sun decided to set as well

on March 17, 2007thanks all ! yes, ID and others, I too thought the steam looked fake :)..when it started looking that way, I probably accentuated it a bit :) the real steam was more wispy, but not prominent..

Good luck in LPS. I have yet to capture anything I'm even remotely happy with enough to enter. I love your current champagne entry... not sure any cup of coffee will beat that :-) And I Live for coffee!

on March 15, 2007Man, I'd like a cup of that. I like everything but agree that the steam looks a little off, maybe because it has too defined contour lines? I love the champagne shot, by the way, as well as the description of the mess it made!

on March 15, 2007like the set-up, the lighting, and the black background that draws out the shape of the mug and plate. steam looks a little fake to me, though. still, nice shot.
