on March 30, 2010An individual crane spends about 29 days along the Platte. During that time, it will deposit up to a pound of fat, which provides the energy necessary to complete the migration and initiate nesting.

on July 1, 2010These little guys can't get to my feeders but that's not a good thing. They eat everything else, bulbs, vines, succulants, etc. I trapped the 2 adults and relocated them to the golf course. But their off spring, 3 of them, are too small to trigger the trap. If they don't grow fast I won't have a yard left.LOL I haven't seen this kind of acrobatics in mine, just a lot of taunting. But nice capture!!!
